Objectives

• Technology for captive breeding of Indian horseshoe crabs (Tachypleus gigas and Carcinoscorpius rotundicauda) for translational, biomedical, and conservation applications
• Biodiversity assessment of marine fauna and translational applications of extracted bioactive compounds from coastal organisms

• Commercial breeding technology and scalable protocols for horseshoe crab breeding in laboratory and pilot scale facilities
• Non-destructive scalable technology for collection of Limulus Amebocytes Lysate (LAL)
• In vitro culturing method for amebocytes to enable sustainable biomedical product development
• Mass production technology for LAL using chemical and structural elucidation and chemical engineering
• Ready-to-transfer technologies for biomedical industries, research laboratories, and conservation hatcheries
• Molecular cataloguing of blood, tissues, and perivitelline space to identify stress, immune, and reproductive genetic markers
• Development of DNA-based markers for population monitoring and selective breeding
